About the Show

This podcast started as an idea in August 2021 when trying to find a podcast on the Celts. Other shows had individual episodes but nothing that was supposed to be an entire history of the Celts. Planning began but I did not have the time or energy to really start writing and recording until 2023. By then another show, the Celtic History Podcast by Jack Duncan was started but that did not deter me. In fact, Jack is a friend of the show.

This show is meant to be an anthology of the Celts from the earliest records to the present day. That is a long time which means I hope this show goes on for a long time. The question is, what is a Celt? A Celt is simply someone who speaks a Celtic language. It is pretty easy to identify Celts today as the Irish, Welsh, Scottish, Cornish, and Bretons. Even this definition is skewed though as all of the people I listed are in the middle of a revival as their language was suppressed because of past persecution. This show uses the widest definition of Celt throughout history without going into the absurd.

About Me

My name is Trevor Callahan and I host the History of the Celts podcast. I was born and raised in Escondido California. I graduated from Cal-State San Marcos with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 2022. In December 2023 I finished my teaching credential from United States University in San Diego. My credential is a single-subject in social studies which I hope to use to teach at the high school level. I aim to teach history but social studies is wide reaching in terms of subject matter. I have always loved studying history and this project is meant to continue that love.
